A Swedish woman's wedding in Uttar Pradesh who met on Facebook
The couple spoke on the phone and over video conversations after becoming Facebook friends in 2012.
According to news agency ANI, a Swedish woman travelled to India to wed an Uttar Pradeshi guy she met online. According to Hindu customs, Christen Liebert wed Pawan Kumar at Prema Devi School in Awagarh, Etah.
In the images and videos published by ANI, Christen could be seen wearing jewellery and outfits typical of India. The woman and Pawan met on Facebook ten years ago. She placed the garland around her husband's neck and participated in the varmala rite.
In 2012, the pair connected on Facebook and continued to speak via phone and video. Over time, their friendship developed into love. According to reports, Christen and Pawan met in Agra a year ago. They made the decision to be married after touring the Taj Mahal together.
In a statement, Christen said that she adores India and that the marriage has made her extremely happy.
Following the completion of his B. Tech. from Dehradun, Pawan works as an engineer. His parents did not object to him being married to a foreigner. Geetam Singh, Pawan's father, stated they would be content if the kids were happy. Geetam was cited by ANI as saying, "We wholeheartedly support this marriage."
