A truck rams pedestrians in Assam, killing 5 and critically injuring 2.

After a truck rammed into pedestrians on the NH 15 at Sipajhar in Assam's Darrang district, four persons died on the scene, while one breathed his last on the way to hospital and three others were badly injured.
Rekib Ali died on his way to the Guwahati Medical College and Hospital, while Indadul Haque, Jintu Moni Ahmed, Jaymati Baruah, and Sangita Baruah died on the scene. Two others are thought to be in critical condition.
Locals also claimed that despite the police station being approximately 100 meters from the accident site, it took an hour for officers to arrive.
According to the authorities, the truck driver lost control and drove over individuals out for a morning walk.
Meanwhile, the driver and conductor of the vehicle with the AS-11-BC-1555 licence plate escaped the scene.
