Ex-Air India pilot among 6 arrested in major drug haul worth Rs 120 billion

The Narcotics Control Bureau confiscated approximately 60 kilogramme of mephedrone narcotics worth Rs 120 crore from a facility in Mumbai. One of the two arrested is a former pilot with Air India.
The drug haul at Jamnagar in Gujarat earlier this week and the party drug seizure are both connected to a broader network. In that incident, four persons were detained.

The detained pilot, Sohail Gaffar, had previously worked for Air India. Sohail Gaffar, a trained American, is said to have left his position a few years ago, citing health issues

According to representatives of the anti-drugs agency, the same drug cartel sold over 225 kg of mephedrone drugs in the market, of which 60 kg were captured yesterday.

The Mumbai narcotics bust was the result of a tip from Jamnagar naval intelligence.

Large amounts of narcotics were found earlier this year in Gujarat.

200 kilos of mephedrone narcotics were found in Vadodara in August. 260 kg of narcotics were taken from Kandla port in April.3000 kg of cocaine worth Rs 21,000 crore were confiscated from Mundra port in September of last year in one of the largest drug busts.
