Asia Cup 2022: India qualify for Super 4s with 16-0 win over Indonesia; above Pakistan in Pool A

In the 2022 Men’s Hockey Asia Cup, the Indian hockey team defeated Indonesia 16-0 to qualify for the Super 4s. India, incidentally, needed 15 goals to surpass Pakistan on goal differential and go to the next round, and they did so through a penalty corner with just two minutes remaining in the last quarter.

This was India’s first win in the Asia Cup 2022,  they were held to a 1-1 draw by Pakistan before losing 2-5 to Japan, who finished first in Pool A. Japan won all three of their pool matches.

Despite the fact that India and Pakistan both ended the group stages with the same number of points (4), the former qualified due to a better goal difference (13).
