Assam Floods: Shillong Citizens in Collaboration with the MLMD & MSF Steps Forward To Aid Relief
The entire nation has joined together and stands with Assam to combat all odds that it is facing as it struggles to succeed in the face of one of the biggest disasters it has ever experienced.
Innumerable organisations, NGOs, philanthropists, and rescue teams that risk their lives day in and day out to save numerous innocent lives have stepped forwards to help the impacted residents.
The Barak valley, with Silchar taking a significant damage, is Assam's most severely devastated region as a result of the catastrophe. The Shillong Citizens have stepped forwards to help the worst-affected Cachar district, working in collaboration with the Meghalaya Linguistic Minority Development Forum and the Mumbai Sylheti Forum. The organisations have produced 8000 water cans, 1968 packages of sanitary napkins, 2320 packets of biscuits, 2160 mosquito replants, and 1000 kg of flattened rice. From Shillong, the relief supplies were delivered to Sri Shamim Ahmed Laskar, DPO, DDMA. The District Administration's representative, Cachar, has accepted the consignment on 29 June 2022.
It is admirable that assistance has arrived at such a difficult time, and that the people who made the operation successful risked their lives to help those in need at such a terrible moment. By risking their lives, Shri Nivash Paul, Shri Joydeep Bhattacharjee, and Shri Chiranjib Dey were able to deliver all of the relief supplies to the areas impacted by the crisis.
However, the only way this situation could have been discovered was through a collaborative effort by individuals from all walks of life. To ensure the project's success, the Shillong citizens along with some other members of the organising committee, including Biplab Paul, Dev Narayan Chaudhuri, Sushit Kanti Choudhury, Nivash Paul, Chiranjiv Paul, and Sanku Paul, put in a lot of effort.
Even on Tuesday, officials reported that 24.92 lakh people were still suffering from the floods in Assam, and five more individuals had lost their lives. Most of Silchar, in the Cachar district, remained submerged for more than a week, according to reports.
