Assam: Guwahati Water Supply Pipe bursts, killing one and injuring many others.

On Thursday at around 3 p.m., a pipe in the Gammon JICA water supply main line ruptured in the Kharguli neighborhood of Guwahati. A significant amount of water leaked from the burst, damaging at least 40 residences and washing away several automobiles. Approximately 600 people were reportedly impacted by the incident, and 30 people reportedly suffered injuries.

The incident resulted in the death of one individual named Sumitra Rabha. She resided in one of the houses that the flooding destroyed. The injured were treated in the interim by being transported to the neighborhood hospitals. The police have blocked off the area and are investigating what caused the rupture.

The Guwahati Metropolitan Development Authority (GMDA) has stated that the water supply will be immediately restored. The victims of the tragedy have, nonetheless, expressed their fury and discontent. They asked for compensation from the GMDA for the damage done to their property.
The incident has once again raised the issue of Guwahati's subpar infrastructure.
