Assam: Two Suspected Terrorists With Al-Qaeda Links Arrested In Goalpara

Two suspected terrorist with Al-Qaeda linked were arrested by Assam Police, on Saturday. The arrested man were identified as Abdul Subhan and Jalaluddin Sheikh. The former was arrested in Imam of Tinkunia Shantipur Mosque under Mornoi police station and the later was arrested under Matia police station in Goalpara. Both of them were connected to the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) and Ansarullah Bangla Team (ABT).

” We have gotten input in July this year from arrested Abbas Ali who is also linked with Jihadi elements. During the interrogation, we found that they were directly connected with Barpeta and Morigaon modules of AQIS/ABT in Assam”, said V.V. Rakesh Reddy, Superintendent of Police (SP) of Goalpara district of Assam.

The police officer further added that they have found materials related to the Al-Qaeda, Jihadi element, posters, books, and other documents during the house searches of the arrested men.

He also mentioned that the two men were providing shelters to the Bangladeshi people who are currently residing in India and were involved in proving logistic support to the Jihadi terrorists who came from from Bangladesh.
