Authorities release graphic images of the Odisha train accident as families pray for a miracle
The NOCCI Business Park in the Balasore district of Odisha was the scene of relatives identifying images of passengers after the disaster involving three trains on Friday. The Odisha government, which claimed that some bodies were counted twice earlier, lowered the fatality toll in the crash from 288 to 275. There may be as many as 187 unidentified bodies.
The photographs are intended to assist relatives of passengers in locating the remains of their loved ones, according to the government of Odisha. Around 300 injured passengers who are still receiving treatment have had their names made public.
The return of train services was overseen on Sunday night after roughly 51 hours of rescue and restoration operations, despite calls for the Indian railways minister to quit from the opposition due to the incident. (PTI)
