Bhutan Conferred the highest Civilian Award to PM Narendra Modi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was awarded the Ngadag Pel gi Khorlo, Bhutan's highest civilian honour, on Friday. The country's head of state, Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck, pronounced Modi's name for the highly coveted civilian decoration and emphasised India's "unconditional friendship" and support for Bhutan over the years, particularly during the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) pandemic, under Prime Minister Narendra Modi's leadership.
"Overjoyed to hear His Majesty declare Your Excellency Modiji's Narendra Modi name for the highest civilian decoration, Ngadag Pel gi Khorlo," Bhutan Prime Minister Lotay Tshering said on social media after learning of the news.
The Prime Minister's Office of Bhutan stated, "HM emphasised Modiji's unwavering friendship and assistance over the years, notably during the pandemic. Definitely deserving! Bhutanese folks send their best wishes. I saw Your Excellency as a great, spiritual human being in all of our contacts. I'm looking forward to receiving the award in person "..
Bhutanese Prime Minister Tshering prayed in a tweet that India's gestures during the pandemic would blossom into infinite benefits for the Indian people.
"We are grateful to have received an additional 400,000 doses of Covishield, allowing us to expand our vaccination programme across the country. Bhutanese people and I are eternally grateful @narendramodi "he wrote in a tweet
In January, India presented Bhutan with the first batch of 1.5 lakh doses of Covid-19 vaccination Covishield as a gift.
