Bihar: 'Mahagathbandhan' filed vote of no confidence against Assembly Speaker
According to a top JD(U) representative, the Mahagathbandhan (Grand Alliance), Bihar's new ruling coalition, filed a vote of no confidence against BJP MLA and Assembly Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha on Wednesday.
Nitish Kumar, the chief minister, and Tejashwi Yadav, his deputy, made the decision to call the Bihar assembly session on August 24 in order to ask for a vote of confidence during the first Cabinet meeting following taking office on Wednesday. Speaker Vijay Kumar Sinha's refusal to leave and encouragement of the ruling alliance to move a resolution of no confidence caused the session to be postponed.
50 legislators signed the motion as required and gave it to the assembly secretary. According to the former speaker Vijay Kumar Choudhary, the motion could only be discussed after 14 days had passed after it was served. On the day the House meets, he stated that it will be taken first.
Either on August 24 or 25, the Assembly is anticipated to hold a special session. A majority-approved resolution of the Assembly may in accordance with the rule, remove a Speaker from their position, according to Mr. Choudhary. The BJP has 77 MLAs, while the Mahagathbandhan has a total of 164 members in the Assembly.
