Border Dispute: Regional committee visits Assam-Meghalaya border

On August16th, a regional committee from Assam and one from Meghalaya jointly visited the Kanduli area in the West Karbi Anglong district of Assam and the West Jaintia Hill district of Meghalaya. The two state governments established regional committees to visit contested interstate borders together and report back to their respective chief ministers. Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar headed the team from Meghalaya, and Parliamentary Affairs, Information, and Public Relations Minister Pijush Hazarika led the team from Assam on today's visit. Both teams interacted with residents and organizations in the neighboring regions. They indicated their desire for the conflicts to be resolved.

In the districts of West Karbi Anglong and West Jaintia Hill, the two regional committees will return to the disputed territories.
