Building Collapsed in Delhi; Two Children died while several injured

A major tragedic incident occurred today near Ghanta Ghar area Delhi. A four-storey building collapsed in north Delhi's Malkaganj near Subzi Mandi late on Monday morning where several got trapped under the debris.

Meanwhile, two children, both brothers, were rescued from the debris but were declared brought dead at Bada Hindu Rao hospital. One person was rescued and was undergoing treatment at the hospital.

A car parked nearby was badly damaged as debris from the building fell on it, police and fire department officials said.

Local police and district administration and NDRF officials have reached the incident site. A massive relief and rescue operation has been launched by the officials.

Delhi Fire Services (DFS) chief Atul Garg said the fire control room received a call at 11.50 am regarding a building collapse in Malkaganj. Initially, five fire tenders and rescue teams were sent to the spot. Later, two more fire tenders were dispatched, he said.

Deputy commissioner of police (north) Anto Alphonse said, "The rescue operation is still on and the local police officials are there. Further information will be shared soon."

The Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal expressed his grief over the incident, "The accident of building collapse in Sabzi Mandi area is very sad. The administration is engaged in relief and rescue work. I am monitoring the situation through the district administration," Kejriwal tweeted.
