Cabinet gives nod to Women Reservation Bill: Opposition Reacts

Following the first special session of Parliament, Prahlad Patel stated that the Union Cabinet on Monday approved the women's reservation bill in a special meeting.

The minister wrote in a post on X (formerly Twitter), "Only the Modi government had the moral courage to fulfill the demand for women's reservation. Which was proved by the approval of the cabinet. Congratulations @narendramodiji and congratulations to the Modi government."

In a significant meeting presided over by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday, the Union Cabinet approved the women's reservation bill, according to Union minister Prahlad Patel. Although the Cabinet decision generated much interest, the government chose not to hold the regular news conference after the Cabinet meeting.

Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh responded to the news by posting on X, formerly known as Twitter, "It's been a long-standing demand of the Congress party to implement women's reservation. We applaud the reported Union Cabinet decision and are forward to learn more about the specifics of the Bill. In place of acting in secrecy, this could have very well been discussed in the all-party meeting prior to the Special Session and consensus could have been developed.
