India records 796 new Covid cases, active tally crosses 5,000 after 109 days

According to data from the Union health ministry, India had a one-day increase of 796 new Covid cases on Friday, and after 109 days, the number of active cases has surpassed 5,000.
A total of 5,026 active cases, or 0.01% of all infections, are now present, with a case fatality rate of 1.19%. 4.46 crore cases of Covid-19 have now been reported overall (4,46,93,506). Five fatalities brought the total number of deaths to 5,30,795, according to data from the health ministry.
With a nationwide recovery rate of 98.80%, the number of recoveries has increased to 4,41,57,685. The health ministry on Thursday requested the six most afflicted states, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Karnataka, to pursue a risk assessment-based approach to prevent and restrict the spread of illness as a result of a modest increase in daily coronavirus infections.
