DCW Chief Swati Maliwal claims her own father molested her

The chairperson of the Delhi Commission for Women, Swati Maliwal, alleged on Saturday that her father had molested her when she was a child. The experiences of the honorees reminded Swati Maliwal of her own, notably how her father had "sexually tormented" her. She took part in the award ceremony, which was arranged by the women's commission.

"My father used to frequently beat me. I used to hide under the bed when dad used to come home because I was so terrified. I used to think about how to shield women from such atrocities for the entire night back then. He used to grasp my hair while slamming my head against the wall. Yet, I believe that inspired me to fight for the rights of women," Swati Maliwal added, noting that she lived with her father up until the fourth grade.

After the Aam Aadmi Party won the election in 2015, Swati Maliwal was chosen to lead the Delhi Commission for Women. Her employment agreement was later renewed. Prior to taking over as CEO of DCW, she was Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's advisor.
