Even in death, a 22-year-old nurse saved many lives; Her death will be remembered as an inspiration.

In an inspirational story that inspires everyone to take such steps in life, a 22-year-old nurse from Karnataka, who was declared clinically brain dead on Saturday gave life to others in her death, saving lives while she was alive and giving life to others after her death. She dedicated her life entirely to the service of others while she was alive.

T.K. Ganvi, a staff nurse at Nirmala Nursing Home in Shivamoga, fell unconscious while on her night shift rounds on February 8. She was from Hosakoppa village in N.R. Pura taluk in Chikkamagaluru district.

Ganvi was transported to Nanjappa Hospital at 3.30 a.m. after losing consciousness, but she required extensive care. The same day, around 7.30 p.m., she was admitted to the PMSSY Hospital on the Victoria Hospital campus.

She was on ventilator support at the PMSSY Hospital after surgery, according to doctors, but was declared brain dead on February 12. The family stepped forward on their own to give her organs.

"She cured and cared for patients while she was living, and she gifted her organs when she died," Health Minister K. Sudhakar tweeted on Sunday. T.K. Ganvi, a 22-year-old staff nurse who donated her organs after a sad death, exemplifies the phrase "Paropakarartha yo jivati sa jivati," which means "those alone survive who live for others." Hats respect to Ganvi's family for their generosity in the face of such sorrow. "The young girl inspires us all to make an organ donation promise." The Minister also stated that this was the IGOT's first organ retrieval.

Similarly a tragic event occurred last week in Karnataka when 26-year-old Chaitra K.R. collapsed at her wedding reception on February 6 and was taken to NIMHANS where she was declared clinically brain dead.

Even the girl's relatives made the decision to give her organs. Such instances are truly inspiring for the entire country. If we have the ability to live the lives of many people after we die, why don't we do so? It's better to put a smile to someone's face by giving them life than to be laid to ashes.
