Former Delhi deputy CM Manish Sisodia arrested by the ED in excise policy case.

Manish Sisodia, a former deputy chief minister of Delhi, was taken into custody by the Enforcement Directorate on Thursday after being questioned at Tihar prison on an excise policy issue.

The CBI detained Sisodia on February 26 in connection with allegations of corruption in the creation and implementation of the now-cancelled Delhi liquor or excise policy for 2021–2022. Sisodia is currently being held in judicial custody. The 51-year-old Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader's statement was first taped on March 7 and was recorded for around five hours.

The Delhi government is accused of allowing cartelization and favoring specific dealers who reportedly paid bribes for it through their excise policy for 2021–2022, a claim that the AAP fiercely disputes. After the policy was later changed and the Delhi LG suggested a CBI investigation, the ED filed a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act against the same accused (PMLA).
