Guwahati's air quality drops to very poor, with a current AQI of 307

With an Air Quality Index (AQI) rating of 307, which indicates extremely poor air quality, the city of Guwahati is now experiencing a serious air pollution problem. PM2.5, the main pollutant, was detected at 106 g/m3 at 7:00 am on February 22nd, which is beyond the permissible levels established by the World Health Organization. Some locations across the city reportedly had a 318 AQI reduction.

Guwahati's air quality index drastically declined on February 8 in a number of locations. This is mostly the result of the continuous construction work and the dry weather. High levels of pollution and strong haze made it difficult to see and burned the eyes.

As it affects the respiratory system and increases the risk of respiratory infections and disorders like asthma and lung infections, the outside air is obviously quite harmful for people. The situation is worse in Guwahati because of the weather variations and the accumulation of contaminants in the air.
