Haiti is devastated by extensive flooding due to heavy rainfall; 15 people are killed and 8 are missing.

At least 15 people have died and eight are still missing in Haiti as a result of the heavy rains that fell over the weekend that led to widespread flooding and multiple landslides. Hundreds of homes in the area were engulfed by water today, turning some streets into roaring rivers of brown drinking water, and approximately 13,400 people were forced to leave, according to Haiti's Civil Defense Company.
The effects of Saturday's rains in Haiti, which affected more than 7,400 people, are still being assessed by officials. At a time when starvation was spreading, the downpours also seriously damaged crops in Haiti's central region.
According to Prime Minister Ariel Henry, he worked with local, national, and international organizations to provide for the needs of flood victims.
The nation has been pounded by rain since June 1, according to Marcelin Esterlin, Director General of the Hydrometeorological unit, and it is expected that this week's rains will also continue.
