Heat wave changes Kamrup Metro school hours again

There is a severe heat wave affecting the entire northeastern part of the country, with temperatures over average in certain places. The administration has decided to alter the class times at the schools in the Kamrup Metropolitan district in order to achieve this.

On Wednesday, the order was passed, and it takes effect on Thursday. The order issued by the district-level officials of the education department stated that "the normal school timing is again rescheduled in the interest of public wellbeing due to continuous rise in Mercury level and prevailing scorching heat for both Govt. Provincialized and private schools under Kamrup Metro district w.e.f Thursday, 3rd Aug '2023."

The schools' new hours are as follows, per the order. Lower primary schools are open from 7:30 am to noon, Middle English Schools are open from 7:30 am to 2:30 pm, and high schools and higher secondary are open from 7:30 am to 1:00 pm.

Additionally, schools have been told to hold the morning assembly inside the room or somewhere shaded. The order will go into effect on August 3 and be in effect till August 15.

The Southwest Monsoon predicted above-average temperatures in the area in the August forecast released by the Indian Metrological Department (IMD). The second part of the southwest monsoon, which falls in the months of August and September, is anticipated to bring about typical rainfall over the nation. Over most of the communities around the Himalayas, East-Central India, and certain areas of East and Northeast India, normal to above normal rainfall is extremely likely. Over the majority of Peninsular India, as well as Western sections of Northwest and Central India, below-normal rainfall is extremely expected.
