Honeymoon couple killed in Uganda receives tribute from friends

In Uganda's Queen Elizabeth National Park, friends have paid respects to a couple who died while on their honeymoon, along with their guide.  The couple, who reside in Hampstead Norreys, close to Newbury in Berkshire, are known  as David and Celia Barlow.
The parish council referred to Mr. Barlow as a "pillar of the community," and the village's cricket club declared that they will be "desperately missed."

According to Ugandan authorities, after they were killed, someone set fire to their car.  "Incomprehensible" is how church warden Richard Davies of St Mary's Church in Hampstead Norreys described the news.

"We wake today with a heavy heart, and the deepest sorrow to hear the devastating news of the death of Dave and Celia Barlow," Mr. Davies stated. "Words cannot express how to react to this dreadful news."

The family of the couple who were killed would receive support from the Ugandan High Commission in the UK, according to remarks made by Ugandan President Yoweri Museveni on X, former Twitter.

Joint forces are reportedly hunting suspected members of the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF) rebel group, an Islamist organization with ties to the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (IS) that has its headquarters in Uganda but primarily fights in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) east.
