Imran Khan: “My life is in danger” ahead of no-confidence motion

Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Friday that he has genuine information that his life is in danger, but that he is unconcerned and would continue his battle for a free and democratic Pakistan.

Mr Khan said the “establishment” (the powerful military) gave him three options: a no-confidence vote, early elections, or resigning as Prime Minister in an interview with ARY News before of Sunday’s no-confidence resolution in the National Assembly against him.

He claimed that not only was his life in jeopardy, but that the opposition, which is in foreign hands, would turn to character assassination.

“Let me warn my country that my life is also in danger; they have plotted to assassinate my character. Not only for myself, but also for my wife, “According to the 69-year-old cricketer-turned-politician.

In response to a query regarding the alternatives presented to him by the Opposition, Khan stated that he does not believe he should speak with people like Opposition leader Shehbaz Sharif.

“If we survive (the no-confidence vote), we obviously cannot work with these turncoats (who quit PTI to join the Opposition), therefore early elections are the best choice,” he added. “I will ask my nation to give me a simple majority so that I don’t have to make compromises.”

Mr Khan called the Opposition’s no-confidence motion a conspiracy, claiming that he had been aware of it since August of last year and that he had received evidence that some Opposition leaders were visiting embassies.
