Abhay Deol claims he had never requested a 5-star hotel during the filming of Dev D, to anurag

In response to Anurag Kashyap's criticism of Abhay Deol's actions during filming their movie Dev D (2009). Abhay spoke out against Anurag spreading false information about him in the media while promoting his Netflix series Trial By Fire. The actor refuted Anurag's claim that he had insisted on staying in a five-star hotel room while Dev D was being filmed. Additionally, Anurag was referred to by Abhay as "a liar" and a "poison guy." Anurag claimed that working with Abhay Deol on Dev D was "painfully challenging" in an interview from 2020. The actor, according to Anurag, desired to work on artistic films but also desired the "popular advantages" and "luxuries of being a Deol."Abhay is the nephew of seasoned actor Dharmendra and the cousin of stars Sunny Deol and Bobby Deol. In the same interview, Anurag stated that while Dev D was "produced on a very limited budget," Abhay would "stay in a five-star hotel while the entire crew stayed in Paharganj" during the Delhi shoot. This, according to Anurag, was the main factor in "a lot of his directors walking away" from Abhay.

Abhay now criticises Anurag for spreading false information about him. "I had my heart on my sleeve, and all that is fine - but you get taken advantage of, and then you get reactive," he said in a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama. As a result, Anurag Kashyap taught me a valuable lesson.Because I don't need poisonous individuals in my life, I simply avoided him after that. Life is too brief, yet there is still so much to discover. However, Anurag is unquestionably a liar and a poisonous individual. I would also alert others about him. Additionally, Abhay claimed that Anurag apologised to him through text after the 2020 interview. "He (Anurag) always acts in that way. You want to yell at me, scream at me, he said. I responded, "I don't care." Twelve years have passed. Get over it; even today, I don't give you any thought. I've had a rough day, so please pardon me, he said. I said that you are pardoned. I never had any private objectives.I feel that way about everything. What percentage of this will he perform? If he hadn't gone public as well, I never would have used his name and spoken the things, Abhay claimed.

Abhay referred to Anurag as a "gaslighter" in an interview with Bollywood Hungama from the previous year. They had collaborated on the Anurag Singh-written and -directed film Dev D. The two never worked together again on a project after the movie. Dev D was a contemporary interpretation of the well-known Bengali novel Devdas by Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay. Kalki Koechlin, Mahie Gill, and Dibyendu Bhattacharya were also in the movie.
