India confirms medals in cricket, shooting, rowing, wushu at Asian Games 2023
In a stunning performance on Day 2 of the ongoing Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou, China, India broke the previous world record and won the men's 10-air rifle team competition. Divyansh Singh Panwar, Rudrankkash Balasaheb Patil, and Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar made up the Indian shooting team, and their combined score of 1893.7 points, which also happened to be the new world record, was set. In the men's 10m air rifle final, Aishwary also took home the bronze medal, while Rudrankkash finished in fourth. In the meantime, the Indian team won the bronze medal in the men's four rowing final with a timing of 6:10:81.
Balraj Panwar, who placed fourth in the men's single sculls final, just missed out on a medal. India finished third behind China and Uzbekistan in the men's quadruple sculls final and took home the bronze medal. Srihari Nataraj, a swimmer, qualified for the men's 50-meter backstroke final after placing sixth in the preliminary rounds.
In the second round of the men's doubles tennis tournament, Yuki Bhambri and Rohan Bopanna were shocked by Uzbekistan's Sergey Fomin and Khumoyun Sultanov. In the meantime, Ankita Raina defeated Sabrina Olimjonova of Uzbekistan to win the second round of the women's singles competition. India's 20-16 triumph against Japan in 3x3 basketball grabbed everyone's attention. The Indian women's cricket team is playing Sri Lanka in the championship game and will be going for the gold. Arundhati Choudhary, Deepak Bhoria, and Nishant Dev will be wearing the gloves for some boxing action as well.
