The Indian and Bangladesh security forces play volleyball at the border in Meghalaya
On the Indo-Bangladesh border in East Jaintia Hills, Meghalaya, Border Security Force and Border Guard Bangladesh engaged in a 'Maitree' volleyball tournament on Friday. The game was held in Barsora hamlet, East Jaintia Hills, close to the BSF base Kuliang.
35 members of the BGB delegation led by Mohd Assadunnabi, Commanding Officer 19 BGB, were greeted by Sanjay Sharma, Commandant 172 Batallion BSF.
The ceremony was held, according to BSF Commandant Sanjay Sharma, to promote and strengthen the friendly ties between two powerful nations and their elite border guarding troops. According to the official announcement, "He highlighted that such matches will build friendly relations and coordination in order to maintain peace and serenity on Border.

There were about 500 local residents from surrounding villages in the area, together with members of both Border Guarding Forces, at the game. According to the statement, "the commanding officer of 19 BGB expressed gratitude for the warm welcome provided by BSF as well as for organizing the 'Maitree' volleyball competition.
