Indian-Russian Working Group on Roads and Intelligent Transport Systems meets in New Delhi

On March 28, 2023, the India-Russia Working Group on Roads and Intelligent Transport Systems conducted its inaugural meeting in New Delhi. The working group was established in accordance with the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Bilateral Cooperation in the Road Transport and Road Industry that was signed in September 2021 by the Russian Federation's Ministry of Transport and the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), with the goal of establishing a long-lasting and productive bilateral relationship of communication and cooperation in the field of road transportation, logistics, Intelligent Transport System (ITS), and green mobility.

The conference was co-chaired by His Excellency Mr. Dmitry Bakanov, Deputy Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, and Ms. Alka Upadhyaya, Secretary (RT&H), Ministry of Roads, Transport, and Highways.              

Discussions at the meeting provided an opportunity to highlight the various efforts undertaken by the two nations in the areas of intelligent transportation systems, green mobility, road safety, and technology adoption in the road transport and highways sector. The held discussions paved the way for continued cooperation between India and Russia for the implementation of ITS services supported by digital technology in the growth of road transportation.
