The father of Women’s Boxing World Championship Gold medalist Mohammad Jameel is the one who introduced Nikhat Zareen to boxing when she was 13. Now that she wins Gold in the Women’s Boxing World Championships, the pride he feels for his daughter would be the greatest gift he will ever have received from her daughter.
A young Nikhat, emerged state champion in both the sprint events but took to the boxing ring on the advice of an uncle. She won the bronze medal at the 2nd India Open International Boxing Tournament held in Guwahati.
The inspiration of many youth and pride of India, Nikhat Zareen, 25, won the gold medal in the 52kg category at the Women’s World Boxing Championship over her opponent Thailand’s Jitpong Jutamas in the fly-weight final in Istanbul, Turkey on Thursday. After Mary Kom, Sarita Devi, Jenny RL, and Lekha KC won gold at the World Championships she set her record in the history of becoming the fifth Indian women’s boxer.
Zareen has been greeted by many Indian supporters through social media on her achievements at the World Championships. It is inspiring for numerous youth across the nation, to believe in their dreams and achieve success no matter where you came from, at the end, you will be noticed for the accomplishments you received. Zareen is one of those examples who face hardship because of growing up in such a community there has not much allowance to wear revealing clothes, although the sport requires girls to wear shorts and training shirts, it was not easy for the Jameel household.
Zareen became the talk of the nation after the victory in the Women’s Boxing World Championship and the inspiration to the growing youths of India.
