ISRO’s confirms to kick off first launch mission of 2022 on Feb 14th
ISRO is scheduled to begin its 2022 with the launch of Polar Satellite Vehicle- PSLV-C52-at 05:59 am on 14th of February Monday from the first launch pad of Satish Dhawan Space Centre, Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.
PSLV-C52 is designed to orbit the EOS-04, weighing 1710 kg, into a sun-synchronous polar orbit of 529 km.
PSLV-C52 mission will also carry two small passengers. The passengers include an earth observation satellite (EOS-4), a student satellite, and a mission to lay the foundation for a future India-Bhutan joint Satellite project
The countdown process of 25 hours and 30 minutes leading to the launch would commence at 04:29 hours on February 13, 2022, after authorization by the launch authorization board.
Three satellites will be carried for the mission
EOS-04 is a Radar imaging satellite(RISAT) which will collect observation data in C-Band frequency, adding to the data provided by Resources at, Cartosat and RISAT-2B series. Weighs 1710 kg and has an operating life of a decade.
INSPIREsat-1 is an 8.1 kg satellite developed by students from the Indian Institute of Space Science & Technology (IIST). It will study ionosphere dynamics and the sun’s coronal heating process over the year.
INS-2TD is a technology demonstrator satellite from ISRO. It is a precursor to the India-Bhutan joint Satellite(INS-2B), the agency says. It is fitted with a thermal imaging camera to observe the land, water surface temperatures, delineation of vegetation, and thermal inertia. The 17.5kg satellite has the shortest lifespan of just six months.
