Karnataka police disclosed one of the accused of the ink attack was convicted of murder
Police dig out the history of one of the accused who attacked farmer leader Rakesh Tikait on May 30, that he was convicted of murder and released from jail in 2015 for his good behavior, according to the police officer on Wednesday.
"Shivakumar Atri (52) is a murder convict, who was released from the Hassan jail in 2015 for his good conduct," Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime) Sharanappa SD told PTI.
During the incident of the ink attack, police arrested the three accused one of which was a record of serving in jail of murdering and has released in 2025. Police also said that the investigation is initiated over the attack whether they did it on their own or influenced by someone as Congress leader claims, therefore police are on their way to find the connections of out those who might have instigated them to attack Mr. Tikait.
The attacker was identified as Shivakumar Atri, 52. He was reportedly released from jail in Karnataka's Hassan.
The Karnataka Congress said, assuring that the BJP people has to do with this and they were behind the incident he alleged. However, the state's home minister Araga Jnanendra terminated by telling the accused in the case were not associated with the ruling party.
