Major disaster averted when LPG cylinders laden vehicle catches fire in Assam

A catastrophic calamity was averted after a fire was extinguished on a vehicle transporting LPG cylinders in Assam's Cachar district. The event occurred at Moinarband, on the National Highway that connects Silchar and Haflong.

The truck was on its way to Silchar from Borkhola when a tyre broke in the rear wheel late Thursday night. However, the situation quickly became critical when sparks from the ruptured tyre ignited a fire that spread inside the truck. According to reports, the driver attempted to extinguish the fire with his portable fire extinguisher, but was unable.

Local neighbors instantly dialed 911, which was quickly followed by a number of fire tenders arriving on the scene and successfully extinguishing the fire. Police officers from Rongpur and Udarbond also arrived and kept the situation under control.

The event had grown somewhat dangerous as the car approached the IOCL depot at Moinarband, which could have been terrible if the tragedy had occurred there.
