Many of the candidates in the state's upcoming assembly elections on February 27 are crorepatis.
The richest contender is Vincent H Pala, president of the Pradesh Congress, who is running in the Assembly elections for the first time. He has seven automobiles, four Apple iPhones worth 5 lakh, a 8 lakh Rolex watch, and seven other vehicles.
The Shillong MP's movable assets are worth a total of Rs. 1.16 crore. His wife has movable assets of Rs. 1.32 crore, making her another crorepati.
Pala, who is running for office in Sutnga-Saipung, is the owner of many lands worth Rs 91.25 crore. Additionally, his wife is the owner of lands worth Rs. 32.05 crore.
In terms of stated assets, Metbah Lyngdoh, the head of the United Democratic Party (UDP) and a candidate for Mairang, is ranked second. His moveable assets are valued at a total of Rs. 11.24 crore, according to his electoral affidavit. The value of his wife's personal property is Rs. 76.24 crore.
