Earthquake of magnitude 3.4 hits Nongpoh in Meghalaya
On Thursday afternoon, an earthquake of a magnitude of 3.4 struck Nongpoh, Meghalaya.
West-southwest of Nongpoh, at a depth of 10 km, the earthquake struck. Shilong, the nation's capital, also experienced tremors.
The National Center for Seismology states that the earthquake happened at 2.36 pm. "Earthquake of Magnitude:3.4, Occurred on 17-08-2023, 14:36:32 IST, Lat: 25.77 & Long: 91.44, Depth: 10 Km, Location: 40km WSW of Nongpoh, Meghalaya," read a post on the official X handle of the National Center for Seismology.
According to the National Center for Seismology, an earthquake with a Richter scale value of 5.4 earlier on Monday shook the whole region of North-east India. According to the NCS, the earthquake happened on Monday at 8:19 PM. The earthquake happened south-east of Cherrapunjee, Meghalaya. However, no casualties reported. The earthquake's depth was 16 kilometers as well.
