Meghalaya Power Crisis: Govt spends Rs 3 crore every day to meet state's energy demands.

Meghalaya is paying an additional Rs 3 crore on power each day as a result of its protracted dry period.  The state will have to pay an additional Rs 300 crore only to buy power to sustain the current level of load-shedding, according to Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma, who revealed this on Tuesday.

According to Sangma, "we are spending, on average, roughly Rs 600 crore of state money to pay for various expenditures, including the procurement of power, in the last two years and this year. According to him, the state has not recently gotten the necessary quantity of rainfall, and the Umiam Lake is on the edge of closing. He claimed that these had been challenging months for the state. He mentioned how the lack of rain is also having a negative impact on the power situation in other states.

"We are working hard to prevent load shedding from going beyond this. The arrival of the rains is necessary, according to Sangma, who also suggested that solar power and thermal plants might be the solution.
