Meghalaya Tourism, a Government of Meghalaya Society registered under the Society Registration Act of 1860, and the Meghalaya Filmmakers' Association (MeFilma), a Shillong-based registered society composed of filmmakers from the State under the direction of Founder President Commander Shangpliang, are in charge of organizing the first Meghalaya International Film Festival.

With a gala launch on the evening of March 14 at the Soso Tham Auditorium and a closing ceremony on the evening of March 18 at the same location, the Festival will screen over 65 movies and documentaries over the course of five days. Paul Lyngdoh, minister of tourism and arts and culture, will inaugurate the first Meghalaya International Film Festival. Adil Hussain, a well-known cinema figure, will attend as a Special Guest.

More than 5,000 attendees are anticipated to attend Megh IFF from all around the nation, including from the foreign countries. The Festival seeks to instill a love of movies among the State's youth in order to develop a culture of responsible citizens.
