In light of the flight of party officials, Meghalaya Pradesh Congress Committee president Vincent H. Pala revealed that he is interested in contesting the next 2023 Assembly elections.
“I believe I should run because so many of the party’s leaders have gone, and a few more are about to leave.” On Monday, he told reporters, “We need to use whatever resources we have to boost the party’s standing.”
He claimed that the majority of the Sutnga-Saipung Block Congress Committee members have asked him to run for state elections.
“The BCC meeting is scheduled for May 3.” “At this meeting, I may decide whether or not to run for polls,” Pala stated.
He claims that he has already asked the party’s central leadership if he should run. “It will be decided by the party’s senior command,” he stated.
The MPCC chief stated that the names of the candidates should be recommended to the MPCC by the Block Congress Committees and District Congress Committees by September.
He further said that the party has identified candidates for at least 40 seats. “In some of the constituencies, we are still screening candidates,” he continued.
“By September or October, we expect everyone to join the party,” he remarked.
