Meghalaya can be tremendously proud of this achievement. Ankur Das, a Jail Road, Shillog inhabitant, gave joy to Meghalaya by passing the civil services test for the year 2021, the results of which were announced on Monday. He finished 52nd overal rankl in India.
Das was ecstatic after passing the exam on his fifth attempt. He indicated a desire to work as an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer in the Northeast, particularly in Meghalaya. He stated that being an IAS official had been his ambition since he was in school.
“I dedicated myself full-time to the preparation after graduating in 2017.” My first try was in 2017, and I was unsuccessful for the next four years. Finally, this year, I passed the mains and went to the interview, where I was eventually chosen,” the 27-year-old stated.
Das, a BTech (Graduate), passed the UPSC test on his fifth try. Das received his primary education at St Edmund’s School in Shillong and went on to Army Public School in Shillong for his secondary school. In 2013, Das moved to Delhi to pursue his degree at Amity University in Noida.
In this age of information technology, where everything is available online, Das said studying for the exam from Shillong was not a difficult task.
When asked about his success motto, he stated that “there is no substitute for hard effort.” He also emphasized the need of working wisely.
“The exam is growing harder every year, and you have to study smarter, even if there is no substitute for hard effort,” Das added.
He also stated that he studied for 4-5 hours each day, but that as the exam approached, he increased his study time to 8-10 hours per day.
HK Das and Indrani Das, his parents, were overjoyed. “Any parent’s wish has come true.” In the last two years, our son has put in a lot of effort. “Considering his rank, it’s a fantastic achievement,” the pleased parent exclaimed.
Das chose the Assam Meghalaya cadre after qualifying for the mains test, saying, “I aim to serve my state.”
Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma congratulated Ankur on Twitter. “Congratulations to Ankur Das of #Meghalaya, who placed 52nd in the #UPSC Civil Services Examination 2021.”
