Minor Gangraped in Karimganj, Assam; No arrest reported

A grisly incident happened in Karimganj Assam on Wednesday night when a minor girl at Kathaltali in Karimganj district was allegedly gang-raped.

The girl's elder brother on Thursday lodged an FIR with the Kathaltali police outpost. As per the complaint, the girl was kidnapped from her house on Wednesday night by three persons (accused) of an adjacent village Kurti – Kamal Uddin, Kala Miya, and Shahid Ahmed in a car (MZ-01 G-0048) and forcibly took her to a house at Balurbond, Kathaltali and raped her there.

As per the FIR lodged the house belongs to a person named Montu. After raping her throughout the night, the accused persons fled took her somewhere and all of them have been missing since then.

An official at the Kathaltali police outpost said police have launched an investigation.

A source in the police said two girls (including the girl who was allegedly raped) went missing from Kathaltali on that day. A section of people suspects that the person, who raped her, might be linked with an international human trafficking racket.

The concerned residents have expressed their displeasure over the role of the police for not being able to arrest the accused persons even though three days have passed since the alleged incident of rape took place. They demanded justice for the victim and urged that the matter should be treated seriously and arrest the culprits at the earliest. They further demanded the Karimganj superintendent of police's intervention into the matter concerned.
