Both governments agreed in the joint declaration to promote and maintain peace in order to avoid any unfortunate incidents along their borders. "We are hoping that today's meeting would go a long way in finding amicable solutions & conveying a positive message to the people living on either side of the border," Assam Minister Atul Bora tweeted on the micro-blogging site Twitter. I appreciate Hon. CM Dr. @himantabiswa and Hon. Mizoram CM Shri @ZoramthangaCM's willingness to work together to tackle border concerns."

The Deputy Commissioners of both states' bordering districts shall meet at least once every two months. "Both Assam and Mizoram have also agreed that economic activities, including cultivation and farming, practised by the people along the two states' borders shall not be disrupted but allowed to continue regardless of the administrative control currently exercised by either state at such locations subject to forest Regulations and after informing.

The next meeting between the High-Level delegations of the two states is scheduled for October 2022 in Guwahati where issues and claims will be discussed in detail. Atul Bora, the Assam minister, said that the chief ministers of both states are eager to resolve the border dispute. Mizoram Home Minister Lalchamliana, who represented Mizoram in the talks with Assam on Tuesday, said, "Give and take is the basic component of any discussion like this (border talks).

Lalchamliana believed that the next meeting in Guwahati will be a step forwards in settling these vexing border problems.
