Muslim Spiritual Leader from Afghanistan Shot Dead In Maharashtra's Nashik
In the Maharashtra town of Yola in the Nashik district, a group of four unidentified individuals shot and killed a 35-year-old Afghani Muslim minority religious leader on Tuesday. The incident reportedly occurred on Tuesday night in Yeola town's MIDC neighbourhood, around 200 kilometres from Mumbai. The victim, Khwaja Sayyad Chisti, was locally known in Yeola as "Sufi Baba." However, the motive for the murder has not yet been determined.
According to an official, he died on the spot after he was shot in the forehead by attackers. After killing him, the attackers fled away from the spot in a seized SUV which was used by Sufi Baba. The police have registered a case of murder and have launched a manhunt to nab the culprits.
The event took place in an open, uninhabited plot next to the MIDC industrial zone in Yeola at 7:15 p.m., according to an investigation officer.
According to investigations, the Afghan cleric was shot numerous times in the head and neck by at least four unknown people who appeared out of nowhere. This resulted in his immediate death.
