NPP candidate Ampareen Lyngdoh wins East Shillong Constituency
Ampareen Lyngdoh, a candidate for the NPP, triumphs in the East Shillong constituency. Ampareen and Congress candidate Manuel Badwar were in a close race.
Ampareen Lyngdoh joined the NPP after leaving the Congress party last year.
Ampareen Lyngdoh, the NPP's candidate for East Shillong, had earlier claimed that even if the party does not win an outright majority, it will still be a powerful force with close to 26–28 seats. She argued that creating the government shouldn't present any challenges for the NPP.
