PM Modi's message: open borders between India and Nepal should not be misused
Prime Minister Narendra Modi stressed on Saturday that the open borders between India and Nepal should not be misused, as he stood next to his Nepalese counterpart Sher Bahadur Deuba in Delhi at an event when the two countries signed four agreements.
"We talked about how undesired elements shouldn't be able to take advantage of India and Nepal's open borders. We also emphasised the need of our defence and security services working together closely "As border tensions between India and China, which began in 2020, continue, Prime Minister Modi made the statement.
In the past, Kathmandu has boasted about its friendly relations with Beijing.
On Saturday, India and Nepal signed four agreements to strengthen connections in areas such as railways and electricity. Prime Minister Deuba is making his first bilateral visit since taking office for the fifth time in July of last year. "The friendly relations that exist between India and Nepal are one-of-a-kind… such friendship does not exist anyplace else on the planet. Our shared vision for power cooperation will serve as a roadmap for future collaboration "On Saturday, Prime Minister Modi stated.
