City transformer vandalized; valuables stolen
In the early hours of Tuesday, vandals damaged a 500KV transformer next to the Laban Bengalee Boys Higher Secondary School. From Mahalakshmi General Store to Streamlet Road, the transformer serves 478 homes in the area.
According to reports, thieves broke into the transformer and stole copper plates, fuses, and wires, all of which are essential for efficient electricity distribution. Over 7,000 rupees worth of goods were taken, said a top MeECL officer. Additionally, it was disclosed that a police report (FIR) had been filed at the Laban police station.
