Shocking revelation by the ex-governor of Meghalaya would shake the Modi Government.

Former governor of Jammu and Kashmir under the Modi administration Satya Pal Malik gave an astonishing interview to Karan Thapar for The 'Wire' in which he painted a devastating portrait of the prime minister and his closest advisers.

Satya Pal Malik, the very last governor of Jammu and Kashmir before it was divided and given union territory status, stated in an interview with the 'Wire that "I can safely say the PM has no real problem with corruption" (I can safely say the PM has no real problem with corruption). This statement may have serious political repercussions for the Modi administration, the Bharatiya Janata Party, and Jammu and Kashmir.

Malik, who served as governor during the devastating terrorist attack on soldiers in Pulwama in February 2019 and the repeal of Article 370 in August of that same year, claims the prime minister is "ill-informed" and "ignorant" about Kashmir and instructed him to keep quiet about the failures of the Union home ministry that resulted in the attack.

What's more, he said that he personally brought up every one of these mistakes when Modi called him from outside Corbett Park shortly after the Pulwama tragedy. He claimed that the prime minister instructed him to be silent and not tell anyone about this. Separately, Malik claimed that NSA Ajit Doval also ordered him to remain silent and refrain from bringing up the subject. Malik claimed that he recognized an impulse to blame Pakistan and gain political advantage for the BJP and the government right away.

Malik elaborates on why he decided to dissolve the assembly in November 2018 rather than allowing Mehbooba Mufti to establish a new government despite her assertion that she had a majority of 56 in the 87-member assembly. He once charges Mehbooba Mufti with lying. Another time, he claims that the parties she was claiming to have their support from, such the National Conference, were privately advising him to dissolve the assembly out of concern for horse-trading.

The prime minister, according to Malik, is "ignorant" and "ill-informed" regarding Kashmir. He argued that it was a mistake to abolish Jammu and Kashmir's statehood and that it had to be reinstated right away. The PM, he remarked, "mast hain apne mein - to hell with it!"
He said he was ousted as governor of Goa in August 2020 and relocated to Meghalaya because he had brought to the prime minister’s attention multiple cases of corruption which the government decided to ignore rather than tackle. He claimed that those close to the prime minister are corrupt and frequently utilize the PMO's name.

Additionally, Malik stated that the PMO actually conducts a thorough review of every appointment made by President Droupadi Murmu. When he was still a governor, the president gave him an appointment, but as he was actually in route to Rashtrapati Bhavan, the president abruptly cancelled it.
