Strong 6.2-magnitude earthquake strikes Nepal; Delhi-NCR jolted by strong tremors

Parts of the Delhi-National Capital Region experienced strong earthquake tremors on Tuesday.  Initial calculations by the National Center for Seismology place the earthquake's depth at 5 km and its magnitude at 6.2.

A 6.2-magnitude earthquake hit west Nepal. 200 kilometers to the southeast of Joshimath. Since it is shallow, north India has seen significant shocks. The Himalayan terrain is full of flaws. Tectonically, it is an extremely active zone. JL Gautam, office head for the National Center for Seismology, stated that we are investigating which faults are implicated.

Residents fled their homes in a panic after the earthquake, which lasted more than 40 seconds.

"Hey Delhi people!" read a post from the Delhi Police on social networking platform X. We wish you all are safe. Do not panic, but do please exit your buildings and gather in a safe area. AVOID USING ELEVATORS! In case of emergency, dial 112.
There were tremors felt in Jaipur, Chandigarh, and other northern Indian cities. There was no current information regarding losses, according to the police control room in the pink city.
