The operation, carried out with precision and efficiency, has resulted in the arrest of an individual hailing from Mizoram, who was residing in the 9th Mile Baridua area along the Assam-Meghalaya border.

The seized items paint a grim picture of illegal activities, encompassing wildlife poaching and the possession of a significant arsenal of firearms and ammunition. The recovered items include the lower jaw with teeth of a wild boar, seven deer antlers (horns), one deer skull, 1052 AK-47 ammunition, seven Light Machine Gun (LMG) 7.62 ammunition, 14 Indian Small Arms System (INSAS) 5.56 ammunition, 30 .32 pistol ammunition, three empty cases, one tear smoke grenade, one hand grenade, one INSAS empty magazine, three AK-47 empty magazines, and 34 stamp seals from various government departments.

The arrested individual's connection to Mizoram and the discovery of wildlife items suggest a cross-border illegal operation, highlighting the need for enhanced vigilance in the region. The recovered ammunition, including AK-47s and LMGs, raises concerns about the potential involvement of the individual in larger criminal activities, possibly linked to organized crime or insurgency.

The case has been officially registered under the Khanapara police station, with charges filed under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Additionally, the case falls under section 27 of the Arms Act and section 51 of the Wildlife Protection Act, reflecting the gravity of the offenses committed.

He stated, "This successful operation is a testament to the dedication of our police force in ensuring the safety and security of our borders and preserving our wildlife heritage. We will continue to work tirelessly to uphold the rule of law and protect our natural resources."

The authorities are now focused on further investigation to unearth any potential networks involved in these illegal activities. The arrested individual will face legal proceedings, and the recovered items will be crucial evidence in building a robust case against those responsible for this egregious violation of the law.

As the details of the case unfold, it serves as a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges faced by law enforcement agencies in safeguarding both state security and the environment. The Pillangkata OP police's successful operation stands as a beacon of hope, signaling their unwavering commitment to upholding justice and maintaining the integrity of the region.
