Punjab: Shiv Sena leader, Sudhir Suri shot dead in Amritsar

Sudhir Suri, the leader of the Shiv Sena, was shot and killed in Amritsar, Punjab, by an unknown assailant. The incident happened in front of a temple in the city. During a demonstration by Shiv Sena representatives in front of the temple, Suri was shot by a member of the mob. They claimed that Suri and other party leaders were demonstrating in front of the Gopal Mandir on Majitha Road, a major thoroughfare in the city, when the event took place.

Police claimed to have caught the suspect and found the incident's weapon. They claimed that Suri had been wanted by several gangs for a considerable amount of time and that the government had given his protection detail to about eight Punjab Police officers.
