Traffic jam for fishing competition led to newborn's death in Meghalaya

In a tragic turn of events, a newborn infant passed away shortly after birth because the car transporting both mom and baby was delayed in traffic and couldn't get to the hospital in time. Reports state that the incident occurred in the West Khasi Hills district of Meghalaya and that a neighborhood fishing competition was the reason for the significant increase in traffic that resulted in the newborn's death.

Sources claim that a pregnant woman went into labor and was en route to the hospital to give birth. However, because of the heavy traffic, the car she was in was unable to move forward, and as a result, she gave birth to a boy in the car. The infant passed away, however, before getting to the hospital because of the delays brought on by the traffic gridlock. Despite the fact that the family members had to go a considerable distance to contact the local police in order to clear the way for the car, this tragic occurrence nonetheless occurred.

It should be noted that a fishing contest was held on Sunday at the Pamphyrnai in the West Khasi Hills town of Kshkohlong. The vehicle carrying the pregnant woman was stranded in the Nongspung neighborhood for several hours as a large number of attendees and onlookers arrived at the venue of the event and parked their cars carelessly, causing severe traffic congestion.
