EVMs and VVPATs have arrived for next year's assembly elections in Tripura

An election official said on Monday that 4,900 EVMs and VVPATs for Tripura's assembly elections next year have arrived from Hyderabad.

According to Additional Chief Election Officer Use Jen Mog, the machines were housed in a facility in Tripura West district in the presence of members of recognised political parties.
"As recommended by the Election Commission of India, we received 4,900 EVMs and VVPATs from Hyderabad" (ECI). The vote materials are currently being housed at a facility in Tripura. After the puja vacations, they will be despatched to seven additional districts in the state, as required," Mog told PTI.

Previously, the state had 1,000 Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and paper audit trails that could be verified by voters (VVPATs)

"At the moment, the state possesses 5,900 EVMs and VVPATs, which are sufficient to conduct assembly elections in all 3,324 polling booths across the state." "Electronic voting machines with VVPATs will be utilised at all booths to ensure complete transparency in the voting process," he said.

Mog further stated that specialists from ECIL, Hyderabad, would teach poll officials on the usage of EVMS and VVPATs on November 8.
