Live TV debate shows Pakistan's leaders kicking and slapping each other
A leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and a prominent member of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) clashed blows during a live discussion event, turning the TV studio of a Pakistani news channel into a battleground. A video of the altercation has since gone viral on social media.
According to reports, Imran Khan's lawyer Sher Afzal Khan Marwat and PML-N senator Afnan Ullah Khan got into a physical altercation after getting into a heated disagreement on the "Kal Tak" show, presented by well-known Pakistani TV personality Javed Chaudhary on Express TV, about political topics.
According to reports, Imran Khan's attorney Sher Afzal Khan Marwat and PML-N senator Afnan Ullah Khan got into a physical altercation after getting into a heated debate on the "Kal Tak" program broadcast by well-known Pakistani TV anchor Javed Chaudhary on Express TV on political matters.
The Daily Pakistan reported that both leaders began referring to the top officials of the other as "boot chaat" (bootlicker).
The PML-N senator then charged Imran Khan, the leader of the PTI, with a number of offenses, including having secret meetings with military leaders. The two leaders' bringing up of each other's families precipitated a quick personalization of the conflict.
PTI's Marwat can be seen standing up and unintentionally striking his opponent's head in the viral footage. After that, the senator stands up, slaps and kicks Marwat while pinning him to the ground a little distance from the camera. Onlookers may see the crew members scurrying to calm them.

Sen. Afnan presented his version of events on X, formerly known as Twitter, hours after the altercation. He claimed that while he believed in non-violence, he was "Nawaz Sharif's soldier."
"Marwat attacked me in the talk show yesterday; I don't support violence, but I'm a Nawaz Sharif's soldier," I said. The trick that was pulled on Marwat should serve as a lesson to all PTI members, but especially to Imran Khan. "They won't be able to see the shape; they will need to wear big black glasses," he wrote.
In the meantime, the PTI chairman lashed out at Pakistan's Express TV, saying: "Justice demands that nothing be kept from the public if Express TV and Javed Chaudhry want a real public verdict on the matter of the brawl that occurred yesterday in their TV show. A five- or six-minute long recording of the conversation that sparked the altercation is available on Express TV. Why isn't the public made aware of that five or six minute recording? Any rationale or response? The full truth was made known to the public. Everything will be evident, including the explanation for why I slapped him, if Javed Chaudhry kindly shares the complete 6.30-minute tape.
