‘Weakening north-northeastwards change in the movement of Cyclone Jawad after evening today’: IMD
After the evening, Cyclone Jawad’s progress along the Odisha coast will weaken north-northeastwards; it will reach the Puri area on December 5 and form a deep depression. The wind speed is forecast to be 50-70 km/h till the afternoon of December 5th: DG-IMD Mrutyunjay Mohapatra
The India Meteorological Department stated on Saturday that cyclonic storm Jawad, which is now over the west-central Bay of Bengal, is expected to diminish into a deep depression before making landfall near Puri in Odisha on Sunday. The storm has formed less than a fortnight after extremely heavy rainfall and flash floods in Andhra Pradesh’s Rayalaseema region killed more than 40 people. Stella S, Director, IMD-Amaravati, predicted that north coastal Andhra Pradesh would receive more than 20 cm of rain.
